Dutch Altered Championship II

28 Juni 2025

We are absolutely honoured to have organized the very first ever World Championship Qualifier for Altered TCG, which took place on June 28th 2025. A total of 103 participants from all over Europe (at least 8 different countries!) gathered in Zoetermeer at Spel en Meer geared up with their deck to travel deep into the maze in hopes to claim that coveted spot for the World Championship Finals later this year. All 6 factions were represented with a total of 15 different heroes as Waru, Arjun and Subhash decided to stay home for this expedition. While Bravos was the most represented faction, Afanas was the most represented Hero! All participants faced other Exalts deep in the Tumult during 8 swiss rounds, deciding which 8 Exalts would be most fit to descend into the next level of the maze. After the swiss rounds the top 8 performing participants were named to prepare for their final challenges before one of them would be crowned the champion of this expedition and the first to qualify themselves for the biggest most challenging expedition yet leading to a world champion later this year!

While most participants picked up their rewards (including potential raffle prizes) and started on their journey home, our top 8 faced each other in single elimination. After a very tense final expedition Popeye came out on top paired with Sigismar & Wingspan as our DAC II champion!

A huge thank you goes out to all participants who helped create the safe and welcoming atmosphere during the event. Your enthusiasm made for a fun day filled with laughter and players forming new connections with others. We also want to express our gratitude to Spel en Meer for hosting our event in their store and working together with us and to Altered TCG for the unwavering support and open honest communication about everything!

Last, but not least, we couldn’t have pulled off this event without the dedication from our entire volunteer crew, who were there to help with whatever needed!

Now with this expedition successfully completed, it’s time to move forward… Or should we say UP?

Dutch Altered Championship 1

15 - 02 - 2025

After months of planning and preparations the first ever Dutch Altered Championship took place on February 15th 2025. The day started off with all of our 52 participants, who gathered in Alphen aan den Rijn from at least 4 different countries, lining up in front of the administration desk to hand in their decklist and finalise their registration for the day. All 6 factions and a total of 16 different heroes were represented in the race to be honoured with the title of first Dutch Altered Champion!

As soon as everyone was ready, we kicked off with a quick word of welcome and sent our participants out into the tumult to face their first opponent. In between rounds both players and spectators could participate in side-events. People still new to the game could partake in a learn to play session with our dedicated demonstrator and more experienced players, confident in their skills, could challenge Lokinox to a digital game of Altered on BGA to try and win a promo card from him!

Once all 6 swiss rounds (best of one) were finished, we announced the top 8 cut followed by the raffle. We had a variety of raffle prizes including two exclusive prototype playmats, a variety of gamegenic accessories and even some custom made prizes donated by community members all to give away! Thanks to the donations every single one of our 52 participants walked away with one of the raffle prizes! While many participants then started their journey home, our top 8 had a break and filled their bellies with a warm meal to prepare for the final challenges of their expedition. The final 8 participants representing 6 different heroes from 5 different factions faced each other head on until the final deciding match, where Joja took the title home with Fen & Crowbar!

One of our DAC 1 Participants (a finalist even!) has a wonderful blog where they share their adventures. He has written a great story about the event in dutch!
So please check out Arran’s Dutch Altered Championship 1 story on their website: Digitaal & Analoog.

We want to express our deep gratitude to all participants and those otherwise involved for your kindness towards both us and each other, which all together made for an amazing and welcoming atmosphere! The way everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves, and the fact there was laughter during even the final matches was exactly the safe and casually competitive space we hoped to create for the Altered community and therefore this first Dutch Altered Championship was an absolute success in our book! We hope to meet you all again, if you’re ready to face the whispers from the maze…
