Dutch Altered Community is a non-profit association based in the Netherlands. Our mission is to promote the card game Altered and support inclusive, skill-building gaming events across the Benelux.

We collect only the minimum amount of personal data necessary to organize events and operate our website. This may include:

- Contact phone number (if provided)
- Altered account username (used for tournament participation or linking your in-game identity)
- Information necessary for event registration (e.g., age, ticket choices)
- Optional data you choose to share (e.g., accessibility needs)
3. Why We Collect Your Data
We use your data solely to:
- Register you for DAC-organized events
- Communicate important updates and changes related to events
- Link your Altered account username to tournament participation or rankings
- Manage attendance and ensure fair tournament organization
- Comply with safety or legal obligations
Your data is not used for commercial purposes and is never sold to third parties.
4. Legal Basis For Processing
Our processing of your data is based on the following legal grounds under GDPR:
- Consent – when you voluntarily provide data (e.g., during registration)
- Contractual necessity – to fulfill registration and participation in our events
- Legitimate interest – to operate and promote events effectively and securely
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties, except:
- When required by law or a legal authority
- With trusted service providers assisting in event organization (e.g., ticketing platforms, tournament software), and only where necessary
- Altered account usernames and email addresses may be shared with the game publisher (Equinox) and distributor (Asmodee NL) for ranking, fair play, and promotional transparency, strictly under community-related use
6. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected. Specifically:
- Event-related data, including Altered usernames, is stored until the event concludes and for a short time afterward to finalize results and rankings
- Email addresses and usernames may be retained (with consent) to notify users of future events
You can request deletion at any time (see Section 8).
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration.

You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate or outdated data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on it
- Object to processing in certain cases

9. Photography, Video, and Streaming at Events
We may take photos and video recordings at events for promotional use on our website and social media. These may also be shared with Equinox and Asmodee the Netherlands for promotional use only.
Opt-Out Options:
- You can opt out of appearing in media by informing us beforehand. We will make reasonable efforts to:
- Avoid photographing or filming you directly
- We may request a profile picture to help us crop or blur you in wide shots
- A streaming table will be used during tournaments. You may opt out of streaming except during finals. If you opt out and reach the finals, we will ensure you are not visually recognizable.
10. Cookies
Our site may use essential cookies for functionality and basic analytics. You will be informed and offered options to manage your preferences where applicable.
11. Third-Party Links
Our website may link to external sites (e.g., Equinox or event-related services). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party websites.
